FIRST REFEREE INFORMATION
Note: now updated for 2009/10
Aaron Baum has taken over as Referee Director from Hansen Leong for the remainder of 2010. Howard Veater will be assisting with Referee recruitment and development activities, in addition to continuing as the Referee Assignor. Additional organizational assignments to assist Aaron will be announced.

Certification
Previously certified referees:
In order to officiate in IREVA you must
- Renew membership registration with IREVA / USAV. See registration instructions. Send required fee, payable to IREVA, to Susanna Ashline. The membership is not approved until you receive a confirmation email from USAV.
- Pass a biennial USAV background screening (required for all referees) – the screening fee will be paid by IREVA. A background screening will not be processed until the membership fee is received and the membership is approved.
- Contact Howard Veater at assignor@ireva.org for information on taking an on-line recertification clinic and exam, and cc Aaron Baum at refchair@ireva.org.
- Pass the on-line referee exam.
- Register with Howard Veater at assignor@ireva.org to use the NOVA on-line assignor's system.
- Enter your availability on NOVA (be sure to make yourself available for a clinic and fellowship for rating.)
- Attend an officials meeting (time and dates will be posted and assigned from the NOVA website).
- All referees must be certified as scorekeeper - Scorekeeper Certification
- We will need to have all officials available for the following tournaments, so be sure to make these dates available and keep them open:

New official clinics and ratings will be held at the meetings mentioned in #7 above, or as otherwise arranged. They will be assigned from the NOVA site so be sure to make one or more of the dates available. Rating Upgrades
The IREVA application deadline for a ratings upgrade is February 1st - please contact Howard Veater at assignor@ireva.org for the application and cc Aaron Baum at refchair@ireva.org fyi.
