IMPACT / CAP / COACHES EVENTS in IREVA 2009/10

1) IREVA GOALS FOR COACHES – JOs and adults
- Ensure highest standards of ethical conduct by coaches
- Support and assist USAV goals for coach development
- Assist vb coaches in IREVA in development of knowledge and skills
- Assist IREVA clubs and teams with recruitment and training of coaches. See below for OPPORTUNITIES AND AVAILABILITY.
- Collaboration with non-IREVA vb organizations and their members with similar goals
2) ETHICS
- See USAV JO Coach / Club Director / Chaperones Code of Ethics
- Required to be submitted with membership registration each year for approval in WEBPOINT to be allowed on team roster

- Required for CAP

- See also USAV Background Check Policy
- Required for all members [coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones, club directors, club admins, etc.] associated with a JO activities [tryouts, practices, scrimmages, tournaments, etc.]
- Required before participation in any JO activity as part of membership application process
- Typical turnaround is week if done on-line
- Paid for by IREVA as part of the membership fee as of 2008/09 season – no additional cost to member or club
- Good for two membership years
- Independent of any other background checks, even if redundant – there are no provisions for reciprocity because each organization defines its own policies, procedures, criteria for pass / fail, etc.
3) GENERAL
- IREVA policy - head coach [defined as on the bench per USAV rule] must be an adult; JO assistant coaches are allowed
- IREVA policy - head coach [defined as on the bench per USAV rule] is responsible for supervision of JOs both on and off-court at all events unless an adult chaperone is present and specifically “in charge”
- IREVA policy – coaches and assistant coaches are strongly encouraged but are not required to be qualified as referees and scorekeepers – subject to change
4) IMPACT
- Basic level of coaches accreditation in USAV
- IREVA arranges 2 to 4 IMPACT clinics per year – see news items and calendar
- Also available out-of-Region at selected events
- Also available via webinar from USAV
- IMPACT clinic usually takes 4 to 5 hours
- IREVA policy – at all IREVA JO tournaments must be IMPACT certified - See IREVA IMPACT policy below
- IREVA IMPACT clinic certification is entered in WEBPOINT by Anna Turner
- For non-IREVA IMPACT clinics, participants must provide a copy of their certificate to Anna Turner
- IREVA policy – head coach [defined as on the bench per USAV rule] for each team at IREVA JO Regional Championships must be IMPACT certified – subject to change
- USAV policy – head coach [defined as on the bench per USAV rule] for each team at USAV JO National Championship Events must be IMPACT certified – subject to change
- Team rosters from WEBPOINT show coach certification status
- All coaches and assistant coaches in every IREVA JO club must be IMPACT certified – see IREVA IMPACT policy below
5) CAP [Coaching Accreditation Program]
- Multiple levels – see USAV website
- IMPACT [or approved equivalent] is a prerequisite
- IREVA goal to arrange CAP clinics every 3 to 4 years, scheduled in collaboration with contiguous Regions
- Usually a two-day weekend event
- USAV continuing education requirements
- CAP calendar, certification process, and entry of data into WEBPOINT are controlled by USAV
- IREVA policy – to encourage development of more CAP-certified coaches, IREVA pays a $50 rebate for every team at JO Regional Championships with a CAP-certified head coach – subject to change
